We look at 10 real deep house EPs and LPs that we can't get enough of at the moment.
Mr G - Sweatbox EP - Dungeon Meat
Mr G is a true house master, and his newest four track aptly titled Sweatbox EP on Dungeon Meat is proof positive.
Huxley - 2.0 EP - Aus Music
Aus Music has long been one of house music's most reliable imprints, and Huxley one of its most reliable producers. 2.0 spans a gambit of sounds, with four pitch perfect tracks. Though the lush grooves and soulful vocal of 'StillLOVE' takes the cake for us.
SAM - Marabouda EP - Oscillat Music
The debut EP on Oscillat last year from SAM, this Chicago inspired EP flew off the shelves as soon as it hit them. It got a repress in August, and since then anyone who didn't act fast was left in the dust. Make sure you're not left out next time.
Hunee - Hunch Music LP - Rush Hour Recordings
We'd been chomping at the bit for the release of Hunee's debut LP back in July. Long on our radar as one of the most exciting and gifted selectors in house music today, able to span just about any genre, Hunch Music didn't disappoint one bit. In case you missed it, do your self a favour and grab a copy now.
Session Victim - Two Man House Band EP - Retreat Germany
With their hip hop background and love of all things disco and house, German duo Session Victim know groove better than just about anyone around. 'Summer Games' and 'Black Cream' are sunny affairs, floaty and ethereal at points, underpinned with bassline that just makes you want to dance, while 'Finderlohn' is a slow, sensual Balearic number.
Closed Paradise - The Distance Between EP - Kolour Limited
The Kolour crew is split between Huston and Detroit, and have a knack for sniffing out true house gems. Each track from Mathieu Clé, donning his Closed Paradise guise this time around, features some seriously deep and chuggy basslines and spine tingling chords, with a soulful remix from personal favourites Brame & Hamo.
Linkwood - Expressions (Remixes pt1) - Firecracker Recordings
Deeper than most of our other selections, the first remix package from Linkwood's stellar sophomore LP Expressions comes from veteran Ghosts Of The Sky and the fast-rising Nummer, whose warm interpretation of 'Love Lost' charms like a soft kiss on the cheek and breathy whisper in the ear.
Yooj - The Silberstein Years EP - Sneaky
After bursting onto the scene with his brilliant minimal remix of Martin Buttrich's Mademoiselle in 2012, Berlin-based Yooj has kept busy, this time coming strong with the exceptional four track bomb The Silberstein Years on Sneaky, which proves the young producer's chops are far beyond his years. With its Freerange-like swing, 'Weatherman' is our pick of the bunch, but you'll want all four, trust us.
Bicep & Hammer - Dahlia - Feel My Bicep
If you're just catching on to the gospel of Bicep, the Dahlia EP is one hell of a jump off point. The Northern Irish classic house revival duo team up with Hammer for this one, and simply put, it results in some damn fine house music.
Liam Geddes - With Closed Eyes EP - Music Is Love
Manchester native Oli Furness' Music Is Love is an imprint with an impeccable reputation, consistently releasing high quality house that tends to lean towards the tougher side of things - Furness loves a good bassline. Liam Geddes brings the heat with this four-track monster, though is the jazzy B-side 'Broke' that really does it for us.
