Dirtybird's explosion in America over the past ten years has been that unlike many labels or collectives we've seen. Not coincidentally, the crew's Dirtybird BBQ series has taken off, touring all over the country, with great results at each stop.
So producing their own festival seems like the next logical step. The San Francisco-based collective - headed by Claude VonStroke - was not lacking for logic, as they announced the Dirtybird Campout this summer to take place in Southern California.
The Campout takes place October 2-4 at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado. If you recognize that location, it's because Lightning In A Bottle took place there from 2010 to 2012 and just a few days ago, Woogie Weekend wrapped up its first go-round at the spot.
Dirtybird has enlisted the help of a group - The Do Lab - who was involved in both of those festivals and became famous for its stage at Coachella. The Do Lab is expected to help bring its experience with producing a 3-day event of this size, while Dirtybird provides the beats.
With the release of the full lineup for the Campout, though, it's clear Dirtybird is not the only sound people will hear that weekend. While core members VonStroke, Justin and Christian Martin, J. Phlip, Kill Frenzy, Ardalan, Justin Jay and Worthy are obvious choices for the bill, the diversity is also impressive. Daniel Bell, Lee Foss, Laura Jones, Breach, Benoit & Sergio, Nosaj Thing and Desert Hearts' Mikey Lion add an element not normally experienced through a Dirtybird offering.
Tickets and car and RV passes went on sale today at 10 a.m. PST here.
