The Municipality of Threewaterskloof in the Western Cape is trying to ban music festivals from happening in the areas of Botrivier, Caledon, Genadendal, Grabouw, Greyton, Riviersonderend and Villiersdop. This will drastically hamper various organizations and events in coming years. Sir Lowry's pass and surronding areas have seen host of festivals such as Synergy, Origin Festival, Alien Safari Sprung, Vortex and Organik.

These festivals are a platform for some of the best psytrance, trance rock, dance and visual  artists in the country and the world. If the municipality gets it's way, it will make if very difficult for local artists promoters and event coordinators to continue to reap the rewards of their craft, it would also mean that those dependent on work from these festivals will have to look else where for income sources.

Its not all doom and gloom though, you can do your bit to ensure that these festivals can still take place in their respective areas. If you have attend any of the festivals above in the last four years, all you have to do is fill in the quick survey which will be that will hopefully prove that these festivals have economic and tourism benefits for their communities. So go on and do your bit to save your favorite festivals. Click here to fill out Psymedia's survey.
