Revered Berlin imprint Get Physical Music has confirmed the signing of South African producer, Ryan Murgatroyd also know as one half of ghetto tech duo Crazy White Boy, for a three track EP scheduled for release in early autumn (the equivalent of early summer in SA).

Since inception in 2002, Get Physical has become one of the strongest brands in electronic music, achieving over a decade of staying power through sheer consistency and quality of output. The label's sound continues to ramify and proliferate, defying pigeonholes and always striving to remain fresh and relevant. Club compatibility is a pre-requisite as is their penchant for an atmospheric and emotional intensity that translates effortlessly onto dance floors across the globe.

Ryan Murgatroyd joins the Get Physical family to hold court with a roster of label artists of the caliber of Booka Shade, DJ T., M.A.N.D.Y., Henrik Schwarz, Audiofly, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Maceo Plex, Andhim and many more.

Included in the three track EP scheduled for release by Get Physical will be the track, ‘Shaman Drums’ a collaboration between Ryan Murgatroyd and Crazy White Boy partner in crime, Konstantinos Karatamoglou. However expect a very different composition eschewing an array of sounds and individual music tastes quite unlike their usual output.

"You can tell by listening to Ryan's music that he has a myriad of musical influences which shape and define his style. The grooves and beats that he produces hit the mark and define a unique subtlety. Without doubt a great new talent to watch in 2014."

The founders of Get Physical, pioneering house producers Phillipp and Patrick of M.A.N.D.Y. were in Cape Town this past weekend to perform at the Train Lodge and also checked in at the Red Bull Studio to chat about their lives through music.

“I've been playing Get Physical releases since Booka Shade’s ‘In White Rooms' moved me over a decade ago. This is truly a dream come true. And it’s my sincere hope that this will serve as a catalyst for more labels of this caliber to sign South African artists.”
The word prodigy and Ryan Murgatroyd have become alarmingly synonymous over the course of his 15-year stint in electronic music. At only 18, his release on Cr2 Records became Pete Tong’s ‘Essential New Tune' catapulting Ryan into the international spotlight.

In 2007, Ryan launched CWB (Crazy White Boy) alongside close friend and collaborator Konstantinos Karatamoglou. Labeled “The future of dance music in South Africa”, their combined output has resulted in multiple Gold and Platinum-selling albums, three #1 SA singles, Portuguese and Spanish #1 records and countless international releases and tours.

Ryan refocused his solo efforts in 2013, sparking massive global buzz with the release of 'Bantwana's Piano' on Defected Records sub label Tenth Circle.

Described by Traxsource as, “One of the most astonishing and original pieces of house music of the year. Through plaintively beautiful, Guti-esque piano, intricate percussion and deep, pulsing bass notes, Murgatroyd has crafted a summer anthem in the making.” Also reviewed in DJ Mag as 'a towering achievement in the landscape of modern house music'.

The track upon release received support from the likes of Damian Lazarus to Express2 and was featured on no less than four Defected compilations. His follow up, 'Glow' has been signed to LouLou Records who are currently dominating the Indie/Disco leaderboard on Beatport.

“Ryan's music speaks for itself. Sometimes it’s merely a matter of connecting the dots. We believe he has a bright future and are proud of his involvement in Bridges for Music.”

Valentino Barrioseta

Bridges for Music is a non-profit organization supporting electronic music development in developing countries, leaving a positive impact in disadvantaged communities and helping to raise global awareness about local issues through music.

They have been working closely with Ryan Murgatroyd to develop bespoke educational music programs specifically for disadvantaged communities. And it was Bridges for Music co-founder and CEO, Valentino Barrioseta who proved instrumental in manifesting destiny by passing on some of Ryan’s music productions to Get Physical Music. And the rest, as they say, is history.
