After the passing of The Godfather of House, Frankie Knuckles, last week, an unlikely artist has paid tribute to the legend during one of his shows this weekend. French EDM DJ/producer David Guetta stopped playing mid-set during his headline show at the Aragon Ballroom in the city where Frankie Knuckles built his reputation for a touching tribute.
“When I come to this magic city, every time it’s amazing,” he tells the crowd. “I started to DJ a very long time ago when I was 14, and I was playing funk and disco, and one day I discovered house music and it changed my life.”
He then goes on to share some of the first records he bought that were all coming from Chicago. “The biggest pioneer was Frankie Knuckles, so this night is for him.” Check out a video of the tribute captured by a fan in the audience below.
