Moullinex’s new album ‘Flora’ will be released on Gomma on October 26th, and to celebrate, the widely renowned producer and DJ will be touring the land-of-oz this November.

If there is an underlying trait in all good music, it must be its ability to crush boundaries between genres, dancefloors and couches, twelve inches and YouTube clips. Enter Moullinex, Hailing from the land that we know for it’s delicious chicken (Nandos and Oportos anyone?), the Portuguese born Moullinex is known for his genre-bending signature sound, combining machine-based music, melodramatic catharsis of unpretentious keyboards, desperate guitars, striking basslines, and beats reminiscing from a not so distant dancefloor past.

Having remixed the likes of Cut Copy, Sebastien Tellier, Danny Daze, Drop Out Orchestra, Gigamesh and Golden Bug, he is a favourite of some of the biggest artists in both disco and house camps. Furthermore, his tracks having been released on labels including Modular, Kitsuné, Gomma, Eskimo and Bang Gang 12”, whilst founding the ultracool label – Discotexas.

His recent collaboration ‘Maniac’ with Peaches received massive praise and was on high rotation at festivals and dancehalls worldwide (whilst also turning some heads with the videoclip), and the forthcoming album will be no different. Details are being kept tight-lipped at this stage, but rest assured that like his previous work, Flora will be widely acclaimed, nodding heads from Lisbon to Launceston!

We asked Moullinex what his favourite secret eats and beats were, so when you find yourself in Lisbon, Portugal, you’ll know exactly what’s up!

Top 5 Eats:

Carvoaria a Jacto, Anjos District, Lisbon
The best place to have grilled fish or meat in Lisbon. A family run business with 99% locals (and most of them regulars). They’ll make you feel at home – from appetizers to main courses and incredible desserts.

Hindu Temple, Telheiras District, Lisbon
Yes, the hindu temple! the “no alcohol or meat allowed in the temple” sign pretty much says it all. It has a all-you-can-eat buffet service with the best of hindu vegetarian food.

Artisani Ice Cream, Estrela District, Lisbon
Everybody in Lisbon raves about Santini ice-creams and gelato in Chiado or Cascais, but do try this place instead. The waffles are amazing too, have one to go and walk around the nice park in Jardim da Estrela.

Eduardo das Conquilhas, Parede, Lisbon
Take the train from Cais do Sodré to Parede, and right next to the station you’ll find this several decade old institution of Conquilhas. They are small, edible salt water clams – I think they’re called Donax (pipi) in english but mentioning that to the waiter won’t get you near the prized clams.

Frutalmeidas, Roma, Lisbon
Fresh juice, Brazilian style pastry with meat and strawberry cake, I can’t recommend them more – the staff’s niceness is quite, “idiosyncratic“. But that’s the price to pay for a little slice of heaven.
