As all of us Pulse heads know, Detroit is the birthplace of Techno! August 4th & 5th will mark Detroits 7th annual Detroit Backpack Music Festval where techno will literally give back to its community. Detroit heavy-hitters that will be supporting the cause will include Juan Atkins, Terrance Parker, Mad Mike, Eddie Fowlkes, and even Derrick May will be returning from having fun in the sun on the white island. What began as a picnic on historic Belle Isle is being held right in the city, at New Center Park with ongoing music for 12 hours each day. Serendipity, Collage & Potpourri (SCP) and the Underground Resistance (UR) will be collecting backpacks and school supplies for the local Detroit schools that are desperately in need. Attendees who bring a backpack or a contribution will get a discounted admission. On the festival grounds will be an art show featuring work from Detroit's own Jeff Mills, aka The Wizard. Don't forget to bring the kids as this festival is an all around family affair. Expect good music, good food, and good times for a good cause!
