A new and interesting article by SPIN Magazine’s Phillip Sherburne details how Steve Wynn, who backed Barack Obama in 2008, has now thrown his support behind his 2012 Republican presidential opponent.
Wynn’s four monster nightclubs XS, Surrender, Tryst, and Encore Beach Club hold exclusive residency contracts with David Guetta, Skrillex, Afrojack, Deadmau5, Tiësto, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Diplo, Dada Life, Nero, Steve Aoki, Porter Robinson, Nervo, and Audrey Napoleon. It’d be interesting to get some of their thoughts on the impact their successes could be having behind the scenes of America’s next election.
It’s hard not to spot the irony involved. Here's a man who’s raked in money hand over fist by supporting a culture of hedonism and the decidedly bacchanalian traits of nightlife funneling money to help elect a straight-laced Mormon who espouses viewpoints that stand in such stark contrast to it all.
