Snoop Dogg has been forbidden from returning to Norway following an arrest last month at Kjevik airport, Kristiansand, for possession of marijuana. The American rapper was caught with eight grams of marijuana and an excess of cash, and was fined 52,000kr ($AU 8,212), though was allowed to go on and play Hovefestivalen music festival in Kristiansand.
However it appears that Norwegian officials have not forgotten about the incident and have barred Snoop from returning to the country for the next 24 months. His lawyer has said that Snoop will not be filing an appeal, stating, "[Snoop] can live with the decision."
This was not Snoop Dogg's first run-in with Norwegian border guards. In October 2011 he was held upon arrival in Oslo, when agents apparently told him he had "2much money". He had also been detained in Sweden four years before on suspicion of using illegal narcotics. Until 2010, Snoop was routinely refused his visa for proposed tours of the UK.
Perhaps the American rapper's recent move into producing reggae has upped his weed smoking of late? Snoop Dogg will be barred from entering Norway until the summer of 2014.
