It's like the Spice Girls all over again, Girl Power circa 1994/95 but in a much cooler package, with less platform shoes, Union Jacks but with just as much attitude. Maya Jane Coles has remixed the indie sisters Hannah and Colette Thurlow aka 2:54's latest track 'Creeping'. There are two boys in the band too (Alex Robins and Joel Porter), but let's focus on the girls in a princess of the underground vibe. 2:54 have appeared like a whirlwind as one of the most distinctive new bands to have appeared in 2012, with an interesting amalgamation of heavy cinematic indie rock, R&B hooks and some haunting soundscapes thrown in for good measure.
The 2:54s have been been touring around th US and had a massive reception, now to add into the mix they have had Maya Jane Coles, Queen of the Underground remix their track. Her remixes of “Creeping” a pulsing, foggy monster dub, has her trademark warm but sparse nacoleptic beats, and transforms the indie sound into the on point indie-dance cross genre movement. Maya hasn't bastardized the orignal but made it appropriate now for the underground dancefloor, showcasing her ease at being able to master any genre. The Spice Girls would be proud I'm sure; if they knew what Underground House/Indie Music was.
