Famed for his soundtracks for classics such as The Piano, Gattaca and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Michael Nyman's recent collaboration with David McAlmond marks a first, as this is the first time he's allowed anyone to remix his music. On Secrets, Accusations and Charges Max Cooper offers two reworkings, one abstract the second dancefloor focused. To run with the track, director Nick Cobby was enlisted to create something suitably visually stimulating.
"After listening to the track, I was aware of how important the vocal element is in the track, which added an emotional and human element alongside Max's sonic soundscapes. I knew that i wanted to include real people for the first time, but i wanted to change their appearance; making them something more animated and kinetic, and therefore bring them into Max's world." - Nick Cobby
A call was put out to Max's fans to see who wanted to appear in the video and Cobby then used Xbox 360 Kinect to create 3D point data. The results can be seen below.
