ColouringIN is a musical collective built carefully around the song-writing talents of opera singer turned electronic music producer Henry Bennett. Together with a blend of synth, strings and bass, Henry's vocals create a unique sound well worthy of the band's growing reputation. This Friday at the Dalson Superstore, as ReviveHER launch their label, first release ColouringIN will reunite in a one-off reduced set-up to play for the first time in two years. We caught up with Henry for a chat ahead of the gig tonight, and also have an exclusive preview of his forthcoming release on the soon to be launched, ReviveHER records.
As a collective ColouringIN cites your location in Shoreditch, London, what are your top hang outs in East? When I first moved to London in 2006 we lived in Shoreditch. As time passed our inevitable migration east culminated in my move to China. I now live in a muslim state and when I'm back I like make the most of sex dens like browns, ye olde axe, metropolis and the hackney wick swingers bar 'fun times'.
Henry you have a bit of a party boy reputation, what are the ingredients for ColouringIN to have a good night?Pomp and Circumstance.
You teach classical singing in the UAE now, what’s that like? It's a challenge convincing spoilt millionaires that there's more to life than owning a porsche but it's exciting to work in such a young country with lots of room for cultural development. There's actually no difference between classical singing and any other kind-it's all about maximising the potential of your instrument and using it to pervert and manipulate peoples emotions.
What would you identify as different about ColouringIN?We're all musicians.
You’re returning to the UK for a one off show, what do you have in store for us? Thrust and fury.
Tell us about ReviveHer and the up and coming ReviveHer Records. Looking forward to shooting messages across the stars and fixing them in the firmament with a host of stellar remixes from ReviveHERs past
