Not much more needed to be said on Paris Hilton’s embarrassment of a ‘DJing’ debut in Brazil, but according to Inthemix, ex boyfriend and Dutch house DJ Afrojack has ridiculed the heiress in a series of radio interviews, stating he was "pissed off" he didn't know she was attempting to DJ, and admitting the performance was "pre-recorded".
"As everybody knows, I have been working on some tracks with Paris a while ago, but her trying to become a DJ was a complete surprise to me. Then I saw the video and I think this proves once and for all that edm is all about skills and quality. It is simply not possible to become a good DJ unless you put lots of hard work and years of sweat in it. I’m afraid Paris underestimated this."
“I’m not an asshole. I don’t want to put anyone down. I think everyone should do what makes them happy, for all the right reasons. And I think it’s really important that if you seriously want to go in front of a crowd and DJ, you actually take the time to practise becoming a DJ. It’s hard work, you know – as a lot of people say, it’s not just pressing play. You have to know how the laptop programs or CDJs work, you have to know what the equaliser is, what the effects are. You can’t just pitch your flanger up and down and wave a flag.”
Afrojack didn't stop there, further venting his frustration over the shambolic performance and agreeing it was a 'face-palm' moment for dance music.
“I wasn’t supposed to say that, I’m sorry, but it’s true. Also, it’s pre-recorded. I wasn’t supposed to say any of this, my management’s fucking going to kill me. I saw it and was like, ‘Errgh.’ The reason why I’m saying these things is I’m pissed off ‘cause no one told me before, not even her.”
“I see a lot of people going crazy, like, ‘This is the end of electronic dance music!’ No, it’s not. It happens, everyone goes, ‘Ha ha’, face-palm, then we continue doing what we’re doing.”
Before moving on as Afrojack insists we all do, you can watch Paris' flanger altering and flag waving one more time here.
