Having recently signed to the infamous 2020 Vision Recordings and with his own label Saints & Sonnets causing waves, you could say there's a lot of heat on UK DJ and producer Huxley at present. As he gears up for his highly anticipated debut tour of Australia, Ben Ashton fires off a quick Q&A to the hat-donning gent.
You’re newly signed to Ralph Lawson’s amazing 2020Vision label, how did that all come about? 2020 actually emailed me and Ethyl a long time ago about doing something for them, but we never really got round to it. Then it was kind of left for a while and then Ralph got in contact personally after feeling some of my solo material and proposed I do an EP for them. It all worked pretty smoothly and i'm hoping to do a lot more for them! I just played at their party in Barcelona and it was amazing!
What inspires and influences your music making? That's hard to answer. It can be a vibe from a party, a vocal sample, a riff. Anything really. I think it's all down to the time and the place.
What can Australian fans expect from Huxley at the Bad Apple night at One22 in Sydney? Well, I think they can expect a nice mixture of deep, bassline driven house music, mixed with a tiny bit of garage and a lot of dancefloor madness.
What are your expectations from Australia and what have you heard? (Keep it clean!) Lots of XXXX and surfing? Although I hear it's the winter at the moment. Trust me to come when it's going to be cold and wet! Seriously though I have a few friends in Oz and they say the party scene there is wicked.
Huxley plays Sydney's One22 this Saturday 30th June and Pulse and Bad Apple are giving you the chance to win a double pass. To enter, all you have to do is email us here and tell us why you're a bad apple. Entries close Friday 29th June at 5pm.
