In his recent feature story in Rolling Stone, Deadmau5 offers his take on the truth behind the ‘EDM’ explosion in the United States and states that many in the industry, including himself, are "button pushers." He's quick to point out that he "[pushes] a whole lot more buttons," but says that he's not going to let "people assume there’s a guy on a laptop up there producing new original tracks on the fly because none of the 'top DJs in the world' to my knowledge have - myself included [sic]."
Rolling Stone reports that Deadmau5 doesn’t do drugs – which could explain his volatility towards Madonna after her remarks at Ultra Music Festival’s mainstage asking the audience “How many people in this crowd have seen Molly?” openly alluding to drug use. The man with the mau5head makes quite possibly some of the darker, trancier, and dare I say ‘druggier’ music on the progressive side of things apparently has "only tried pot a couple of times, and has never done cocaine or ecstasy.” This is difficult to believe and seems far from the truth. Have you seen Joel Zimmerman? Perhaps he doesn’t do drugs ANYMORE, but that's very different from never having done them. What do you think? I want to know the truth, don’t you?
