Gary Numan has undoubtedly had his own influence on the world of electronic music. A pioneer of the nu wave sound, Numan made genre defining contributions from the end of the 1970's with his hits 'Are Friends Electric' and 'Cars', both of which are widely considered to have set the scene for a whole generation of new musical sounds in the 80's. Numan, now almost 60, is still out there performing, producing and pioneering and come July 7th will be headlining alongside the likes of Steve Reich, Richie Hawtin, Orbital, Appleblim, Squarepusher and T Williams at Bloc Festival in London.
As the first in a five part series, Bloc visited Gary in his studio to talk about what came before him and what his influences have been in his work...you can watch the result below and for more information on Bloc and tickets for the two dayer, head here.
