After the dropping the recently live recorded Sweatlodge Podcast, Swedish Kontra Musik boys Jonsson / Alter tell us about their most recent and forthcoming albums, remix plans for the future, inspirations and bike riding.
Your album Mod which was released last year recived positive reviews all through. Are you happy with the reactions to it and the development of Jonsson/Alter since you started producing together? We are overwhelmed with all the positive reactions to our sound. We got a chance the develop our liveshow and and to see new places and meet new interesting people.
Are there any specific influences or inspirations to your work? Analog synthesizers, monotone funk and the landscapes and deep forest of Trollhättan city.
Rumour has it that you're planning another Jonsson/Alter album? Have you already started working on the album or what are the current plans? First out this spring is a remix 12" from the album. Minilouge, Donato Dozzy and Dorisburg all choose one track each to rework. Then we have an upcoming 12" of brand new Jonsson & Alter tracks to be released before the summer. We are also drawing the outlines for our second album for Kontra-Musik.
The podcast for Sweatlodge was recorded at a recent live-set in Stockholm. Could you tell us a bit about the party and your set there? We played alongside Jesper Dahlbäck and had a great time. We tried out some new synthesizers on stage, just being loose as usual.
Since you're both orginally from Sweden, is there a different feeling to perfoming when you're playing in Sweden? Yes, the clubs close at three am.
You also played at Panorama Bar a while ago, how was that? Amazing, the sound is so good that you can really relax and just play. The audience was really responding and we felt free to communicate.
What do you both like to do when you're not spending time with making or playing music? Learning new stuff, past and present and riding our bikes.
