Noir's Miami Sound Machine

Noir's Miami Sound Machine

Denmark's Noir hit the big time in 2005 with his international hit, All About House Music, on Wyze Records.  Having been a DJ since the 90's, it was his productions that propelled him onto the global scene which quickly led him to set up his own Noir Music label, begin his podcast and a debut album is heading our way later this year.  A seasoned Miami regular, Noir has mixed Defected In The House Miami '12 which is out 27th February and with the Miami Winter Music Conference just around the corner, we asked him for his top sounds of the event.  Strap yourselves in- here's Noir's Miami Sound Machine.

 01. Booka Shade - Night Falls (Original Mix)

I heard this track for the first time in Miami in 2006 and that was also the first year I attended the WMC. This track reminds me so much of my first time there and this is to date my favourite track by Booka Shade. When those chords drop it brings a smile to my face and gives me the chills. Just like first time I heard it. It reminds me of sun and good times.

02. Shakedown - At Night (Original Mix)

It's just such a classic and it stood out when it came out and had its run over Miami and the Ibiza season. I didn't attend Miami WMC when this track was released, but I remember sitting home and hearing reports, news and tracks from the convention via national danish radio who had 2 reporters there. The great remix package made it live for almost a year in almost every dj's set, but today my favourite is the immense original mix.

03. Gui Boratto - Terminal (Original Mix)

My first ever gig in Miami was at the Beatport pool-party in 2007. I remember playing this track as the set opener and people started grooving along the pool etc. Its not the typical pool-side track, but this really caught people's attention and I felt I had woken them up. Was a great feeling to play under the sun daytime in Miami for the very first time and I loved the daytime parties Beatport did at National back then.

04. X-Press 2 - Muzik Xpress (Skylark Remix)

Heard this one for the first time in Miami as well. Actually heard it 3-4 times that year (2008) and when I got home I was sold, brainwashed or whatever. The track reminds me of WMC 2008 and I still play this remix from time to time.
Love the groove and feel of the remix, classic!

05. Radio Slave - Grind House (Dubfire Terror Planet Remix)

Another track i heard for the first time in Miami that make me go: "WTF is this?"!  Nic Fanciulli was playing this one to a hysterical crowd at Nikki Beach. Really enjoyed his set and this fantastic remix made the crowd pull their hair out in ecstacy.

06. Toky - About You (Hot Since 82 Remix)

This one is also included on the Defected compilation and mix that I did.  It's from the Noir Music sister-label "NM2" and the atmosphere Hot Since 82 created for this Toky track just ooses sun, drinks, happy people and beautiful vibes to me. BIG L.O.V.E.

07. Tevo Howard ft Tracey Thorn - Without Me (Noir & Martin Thompson Remix)

Included on the mix i did for "Defected In The House Miami 12".  So far the only release where this remix is available from and hopefully something that in the future will remind people of Miami. It sure has got the Miami feel to it and would work great for the pool-parties and early hours.

08. Dennis Ferrer - Hey Hey

This one came out and got popular before the Miami WMC in 2010.  The massive support this track got over the WMC in 2010 proved that vocals were back in house music and sort of inspired other producers to add full vocal lines/verses/chorus to their productions again instead of the over-used vocal snips. 2010 and certainly 2011 was a great year for vocals on deephouse and I think this track and the hype it got especially over WMC in 2010 helped to bring back vocals into deephouse.

09. Amé - Rej (Original Mix)

I don't know if this came out before or during the WMC on Innervisions, but it just reminds me of good times and late night parties there. Still love this track to death. An all-time favourite of mine.

10. Patrick La Funk - Icicle (NiCe7 Remix)

This one came out on my label "Noir Music" during the WMC in 2008 and when I hear it, it brings back memories of that year. A lot of djs really loved this remix by NiCe7 back then and it got supported a lot that year. When I met industry friends everyone's reaction was "That NiCe7 remix on your label.... WOW!"  Was the first time I was in Miami and really feeling the love for Noir Music (the label).
