Motor have shifted gear. The techno driven two piece, otherwise known as Bryan Black and Mr No, have recorded for the likes of Kompakt, Shitkatapult and novamute in the past completing three massive electro tech LPs, but for their fourth things have changed. Recruiting Depeche Mode's Martin Gore whilst he was having some down time in Berlin alongside 80's cult vocalist Gary Numan and country star Billie Ray Martin, their forthcoming album is a vocal affair due for release on April 17th. Given the altered course for the duo, we decided to get inside the heads of Motor and asked them for their current top five.
Mondkopf - Ease Your Pain
A great use of distortion and melody (and restraint), something different that keeps techno fresh and exciting!
Zomby- Natalia's Song
Emotional and timeless, the vocal and the music melt together and become something so powerful.
Zoo Brazil - New York
The first time I heard that track I immediately loved the lead synth. Check the way it's modulated from 2:04 until 2:45.
The Hacker & Gesaffelstein - Crainte
Simply massive, check the build up from 2:36 until 3:18 and then BAM! at 3:13! 303 ghetto power!
Fake Blood- Voices
My favourite experimental dance track of the past few months. The guy who mixed this EP has golden ears, the bass at one minute something always kills me.
