Burning Man Ticket Controversy

Burning Man Ticket Controversy

Burning Man organisers have received much backlash with their new ticket lottery system and it would appear rightly so, with many previous burners missing out on tickets and scalpers listing on ebay the day the lottery was decided with tickets priced at as much as $1500. The new ticket system was planned as an answer to the over demand last year crashing the ticketing site, with 2011 being the first time Burning Man has sold out prior to the event.

With fears that many camp members, needed to make the art installations and operate camps, will miss out on tickets with the news process, many longtime burners are already making other vacation plans for this year. Some are even pondering plans to create alternative events, and there are a significant number of them who have tapped the spirit of these political times and suggested it's time to “Occupy Burning Man” or “Occupy Black Rock City.” Steven T Jones many time Burner and author of 'The Tribes of Burning Man', has more to say on the topic as he has been contacting forums and was able to get in touch with LLC board member Marian Goodell. Read his findings and concerns here

It is not over for those that missed out on tickets so far with the final 10,000 tickets going to open sale March 28th. Full ticketing information here
