Sonarpilot Audio - 2012 predictions

London's Sonarpilot Audio have been making waves since their inception in 2010, and so who better to ask about the upcoming 12 months than the forward thinking labels label manager, Jonny Miller.

Highlight of 2011:

For me personally, it has to be the fact that we properly established the label this year and have kept up the quality of our releases. We've had such great feedback for each EP from DJs and press, especially the buzz we got of the recent Trevino remix release. Also a personal highlight was putting together the Sonarpilot Influence Mix featuring some of the music that has inspired our main artist, Sonarpilot over the years. It ended up sounding magic and we mixing up stuff like David Bowie with Lorn and Brian Eno with Floating Points, Its was a real dot joining exercise.

Artists of 2012:

Trevino aka Marcus Intalex. The drum and bass legend going under a new name to release non drum and bass, forward thinking electronic music. His remix for us blew me away. Also people like Kirk Degiorgio for making me love techno again and beatmakers like Illum Sphere for just doing their thing.

Label of 2012:

Martyn's 3024 label. For putting artists like Julio Bashmore and Altered Natives on the map. The design and artwork is always on point too. Martyn's album for Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label was also fantastic this year and he's someone we really respect.

Destination of 2012:  



Brazil - I think South America is really opening up now as an electronic music hub. I was there last year in Rio for the music conference and things were building up nicely. The Sonar Festival is launching there in 2012 which will be amazing no doubt.

Party of 2012:

Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival in Sete, France in the summer. I plan to make the trip there in 2012 after hearing how good this festival is from others year on year.

World event of 2012:

Coming from the UK, i'd say the Olympics will give rise to some serious events and happenings in London, i managed to get tickets to the football final at Wembley which should be pretty spectacular.
