The results are in for Triple J's annual Hottest 100 countdown, with, fittingly, an Australian taking out the number one position for 2011; pop sensation Gotye. His break-up ballad Somebody That I Used To Know featuring Kimbra was literally inescapable last year, and it's that track which has placed the Belgian born Melburnian in the top spot. If you still haven't yet heard the tune (which would be a bit weird), you can watch the youtube video below, which has now had over 51 million views. Yes, that's 51 million.
The other nine tracks that make up the top ten are a nicely varied bunch, which includes dance/indie/shoegaze popster M83's excellent Midnight City. It looks a little like this:
1. Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know {Ft. Kimbra}
2. The Black Keys - Lonely Boy
3. Matt Corby - Brother
4. Boy & Bear - Feeding Line
5. M83 - Midnight City
6. Lana Del Rey - Video Games
7. San Cisco - Awkward
8. 360 - Boys Like You {Ft. Gossling}
9. The Jezabels - Endless Summer
10. Hilltop Hoods - I Love It {Ft. Sia}
