The annual music festival has exploded from its Barcelonan origins and is starting 2012 by adding Brasil and Japan to its globe-trotting fiesta. If this year's Sonar festivals are anything to go by, it's bound to be off the chain.
The series of festivals will kick off in London in late March with 'A Taste of Sónar', then continue in April with SonarSound Tokyo, before Sónar São Paulo in May and Sónar Barcelona in June 2012.
Sónar São Paulo 2012 will take place on 11 and 12 May, 2012 in the Parque Anhembi. The epic line-up already includes more than 50 artists with Björk, Justice, Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto, James Blake, Four Tet, Modeselektor and Little Dragon already locked in. Local Brazilian talent will also be represented in shows by Emicida, The Twelves, Bruno Belluomini, Psilosamples and Dago. Tickets go on sale here December 8.
The next SonarSound Tokyo will take place at ageHa-Studio Coast on 21 and 22 April 2012. This fifth Japanese version of Sónar will feature more than 30 shows by cutting edge artists from all over the world including The Cinematic Orchestra, Mount Kimbie, Clark and Anchorsong. Tickets are on sale here now.
