Judge Jules, Gilles Peterson, Fabio & Grooverider and Kissy Sell Out are all set to leave BBC Radio 1 in April next year, with a brand new line up coming into effect on April 2nd. Having been at the station for a total of four decades between them, the much loved presenters and DJ's are moving to pastures new with the likes of Skream & Benga, Friction, Charlie Sloth and Toddla T all gaining regular evening shows. The much respected In New DJs We Trust slot is also being reduced to an hour, with a brand new line up to be announced early next year and many of the current and previous presenters gaining a slot on newly created 'Residency' show on weekly rotation, including Heidi, Chuckie and Kutski.
In one of the biggest culls of the old school generation of presenters seen at the station in recent years, Judge Jules has made the shock decision to return to his roots and become an entertainment lawyer, whilst maintaining his DJ'ing duties outside of Radio 1. He had this to say about the move: ‘I’ve had an incredible time over the last 14 years at Radio 1. I’m going to continue DJ’ing and I’m having a bit of a career change - I’m off to become an Entertainment Lawyer at Sheridans’.
