2012 Predictions - Rob Star

2012 Predictions - Rob Star

Today's 2012 prediction comes from man behind Mulletover, The Star Of Bethnal Green and Easternelectrics as well as many more London staples. Take it away Rob Star...

Describe yourself / what you do in one sentence: Landlord, promoter, lover, philanderer, part capitalist-entrepreneur, part new-age hippie mixed with a bit of casual culture.

Highlight of 2011: The highlight of 2011 for me was The Burning Man, I first went in 2007 and had an amazing experience, but musically it wasn't quite there. We said at the time, this would be the best festival in the world if all our mates came here and DJ'ed, and now they do! Damian playing on the robot heart stage was one of the best mornings of my life, like the party at the end of the world, watching the sun come up over the dessert raving on top of a bus with a killer sound system. I thought it couldn't get better than that till two days later Seth and Jamie played back to back all morning at Disco Knights

Label of 2012:  Hot Natured. I know they have already had an amazing year, but nobody can touch Jamie and the boys. I know a lot of the guys on the label and i'm so pleased that all their hard work is paying off. I love to see my mates do well and I love the fact that they are creating a new unique sound which is the only way to move our scene forward and keep things fresh

Destination of 2012: Costa Rica, I'm going there in January to relax after the madness of Christmas and New Year. To an ecolodge on the edge of the rainforest by the pacific ocean. The only access is by boat, so there are no cars, and your surrounded by nature. The perfect place to taste the sacred brew ayahusca and realign physically and mentally.

Party of 2012: The Road to Nowhere, a not for profit event on August 3rd, 4th and 5th which was inspired by the Burning Man Festival. No money exchanges hands, no DJ's get paid, once you buy your ticket, everything else is free!

World event of 2012: Eastern Electrics 2012 – we've been planning something for the last four years, and we've now finally got a site and a line-up that we think will rival anything next year.
