Summer on the Harbour

The best place to spend the summer this season appears to be on a boat, with the line ups and surrounds surpassing most festivals. Here's our pick for the Sydney Harbour Summer Season 2011/2012.

Agwa Yacht Club

The Agwa Yacht Club is back this summer with three very special, carefully crafted and lovingly put together parties for a scorching summer of swash-buckling madness. Dust off your pirate hat and polish your boots for what will unquestionably be the best yacht clubs so far in the history of nautical mayhem. The first one for this summer selling out months in advance will see Hot Natured headline; the production name of famous duo Lee Foss and Jamie Jones. People are so desparate for tickets they're offering as much as $200 to somehow secure a ticket on the sold out boat.

The lineups are not yet announced for 012 and 013, yet the anticipation is high as they'll no doubt be impressive. Previous line ups have included Claude VonStroke, Art Department, Damian Lazarus, Seth Troxler and more all aboard the best party boat on the harbour; The Starship. If the best of the worlds' house and techno artists playing on an epic three level glass boat atop Sydney Harbour sounds up your alley, keep an eye out for future Agwa Yacht announcements this summer and get on board. DFB - Dirty Funken Beats

The three letters DFB have grown in the last 18 months to become one of the most recognized brands in the whole of Sydney, if not Australia. Those three letters conjure up thoughts of summer days, sea breezes, open waters, Sydney Harbour and some of the worlds and Australia’s best and most talented electronica and dubstep DJs and performers. If you could imagine a huge house party on a multi-million dollar cruiser with like minded people out to get loose in the sun, you are a quarter of the way there. The first edition for DFB this Summer is also the 6th Birthday of the brand born in the infamous club Tank before landing on Sydney Harbour. For the next event they're flying in Gtronic from Belgium to play alongside The Stafford Brothers, who took out the ITM Top 50 poll for 2011. Brought to you by the team that own Fake - who recently held the Parklife afterparty featuring Diplo, Simian Mobile Disco and Nero - it's fair to say they have connections and the pull to get the top artists on their decks. High Flyers Day Cruise

The oldest of the three, High Flyers Day Cruise, will celebrate their 11th year running this year. In 2011 they are utilising the same boat as DFB (on different dates), The Bella Vista,  larger than their usual dance cruise vessel giving them an extended capacity. Even on the huge Bella Vista with an extended capacity to 1000, they have still managed to sell out over 6 weeks in advance. So this season they are excited to unleash an even bigger event with extra areas and production to boot. Their Summer Opening Party takes place on the 5th of November with the line up still yet to be announced. Dress ups are encouraged so get into Fancy Schmancy for your attire if you're attending.
