Solomun/Stimming - Challenge Everyday EP

Solomun and Stimming get together for their latest release on Diynamic

Solomun/Stimming
Challenge Everyday EP
Diynamic Music

It always seems electronic music producers take themselves so seriously, despite the fact that most of the time their goal is to get people and the dance-floor and have a good time. That is why it’s so refreshing to hear the ridiculous Intro on the latest Diynamic Release. Solomun’s mother introduces the EP, telling the listener how great Solomun’s “boom boom” is, referring to his music of course in her broken English. You can hear Solomun in the background laughing along with her as he corrects her English, and sets the tone for Solomun’s upbeat contribution to the the release off of the label he co-owns.

Following up his release off the Diynamic sister label 2DIY4, Solomun continues to have fun with cheeky samples on See You Everyday Alone, a song that pummels along with a sound very similar to that of the Hot Creations crew; punchy, muted, bouncy bassline jostles funky synth stabs that build up into an almost cinematic array of synthesized strings and the sound of rain. Robotized vocals bring the tune a soulful, feel-good vibe that makes this a contender for tune of the summer, and should clearly get the crowds in Ibiza riled up for the next few months. Wait, it was released at the end of September? Why wasn’t this tune out in June?

While Stimming is no stranger to Diynamic, the song he brings to the EP is quite the about-face to his counterpart’s contribution. Challenge the Air, glides along handclaps and a guitar and a barely noticeable bass guitar. As the vocals whisper in, the song could pass as an indie rock tune as opposed to a production from an up-and-coming house music producer. It seems as if this one is aimed for the winding down portion of the night, but definitely serves as an interesting, subdued listen, similar to some of Gui Boratto’s work.

Even Solomun’s mother knows that he brought the “boom boom” to this record. See You Everyday Alone packs a punch that anyone would drink down without hesitation on their way to the dance-floor. If vocals aren’t you style, the release features dubs for both the tracks from each artist. But if you want to have any kind of fun at all, you’re going to want those vocals.
