The sun's setting later and the mercury is rising. Summer's just around the corner bringing music festivals, beach sunbaking, road trippin', poolside Pimms cups and Sunday arvo house parties. The only essential you'll need for all of the above? An epic playlist. Here's Pulse Radio's music guide for summer 11/12. Amongst our picks of hot new releases just out or coming soon are Justice, Kaskade, Canyons, Toro y Moi, Apparat and Die Antwoord.
Justice - Audio, Video, Disco (2011)
Four years since their 2007 breakthrough album †, Justice have finally released their highly anticipated second album. The French electro duo put out Audio, Video, Disco just two days ago. The 'opera disco' vibe that exemplified Jusice's sound on D.A.N.C.E. and Waters of Nazareth continues on this album with tracks of epic proportions such as Civilization. According to Xavier de Rosnay of Jusice, Audio, Video, Disco is lighter than their first album which was darker and more aggressive. He describes it as "daytime music" - perfect for chilled summer days. The album also features collaborations with the soul musician Ali Love and Vincent Vendetta of Midnight Juggernauts.

Kaskade - Fire and Ice (2011)
The American is one of the world's best DJs. Just a few days ago he put out his seventh studio album Fire and Ice. The euphoric dance tracks continue with hits such as Room for Happiness and Turn It Down. It's a double album- there's ten songs and each one has a 'Fire' mix and an 'Ice' mix.
You can catch Kaskade at Stereosonic.
Canyons- Keep Your Dreams (2011)
The debut album from the Modular boys, Keep Your Dreams, will be out October 28 (Aus), November 14 (UK/EU) and November 15 (USA). If the first single See Blind Through is anything to go by, expect disco-tinged trippy dance hits.
You can catch Canyons at Peats Ridge and Golden Plains.
Apparat - The Devil's Walk (2011)
The German electronic musician left the cold Berlin winter and journeyed to seaside Mexico to record his latest album. He rented a house on the beach to avoid making a depressing album in a studio that was influenced by moping around in the cold weather. And you can certainly tell. The tracks on The Devil's Walk are chilled out and almost tropical.
You can catch Apparat at Subsonic music festival.
Toro y Moi - Freaking Out (2011)
The chillwave sound of Chazwick Bundick, aka Toro y Moi, is perfect for summer. He put out the album Underneath the Pine earlier in the year, but that hasn't stopped the prolific artist from releasing the Freaking Out EP just last month. The EP seems to chart an emotional rollercoaster with tracks All Alone, Freaking Out, Sweet, Saturday Love and I Can Get Love.
You can catch Toro y Moi at Laneway Festival.
Die Antwoord - Tensions (2012)
Just last week the South African rap-rave crew, whose name means 'The Answer' in Afrikaans, announced that they planned to release their second album Tensions sometime in January next year.
You can catch Die Antwoord at Future music festival.
