Melbourne Music Week: First Acts & Kubik

Melbourne Music Weekreturns in November to showcase the very best of the city’s thriving independent music scene. Running for 9 days and featuring 130 acts in 40 different locations, this is an experience in immersing yourself in music 'Melbourne Style'.

Returning with a redefined artistic direction, MMW 2011 will highlight local, national and international, well known and emerging artists. Performances will not only be in live music venues, but in city laneways, record shops, cafes, bars and fashion stores.

Midnight Juggernauts, HTRK, Daedelus (US), Beaches, Oscar + Martin, Teeth & Tongue and Guerre kick off the line up for Melbourne Music Week with further announcements coming soon.

Along with an already promising line up, with a mere preview of 10 artists so far announced, Kubik; one of Europe’s most innovative temporary architectural structures makes its Australasian debut in MMW as the principal live music venue for 2011. An incredible state-of-the-art, outdoor live-music venue, Kubik is constructed from a number of interconnected and illuminated water tanks that create stunning visual effects as they change colour in synch with the live music played from within.

Since its inception, Kubik has toured to 22 cities around the globe as a summer festival highlight in cities such as Milan, Lisbon, Berlin and Barcelona.
