DJ Krush, Wax Tailor, Gaslamp Killer join MMW

Melbourne Music Weekreturns is arriving in November to showcase the very best of the city’s thriving music scene. MMW 2011 will highlight local, national and international artists with performances not only in live music venues, but in city laneways, record shops, cafes, bars and fashion stores.

Midnight Juggernauts, HTRK, Daedelus, Beaches, Oscar + Martin, Teeth & Tongue and Guerre were announced at the start of this month and today we can reveal that the open air music venue KUBIK will also be headlined by Cut Copy, DJ Krush (Japan), The Gaslamp Killer (US) [read last weeks interview], Wax Tailor (France), Die Vögel (Germany) and Alexkid (France).

An incredible state-of-the-art, outdoor live-music venue, Kubik is constructed from a number of interconnected and illuminated water tanks that create stunning visual effects as they change colour in synch with the live music played from within.

In addition to the internationals, local label Chapter Music has joined the Labels Live @ series, presenting a one-off concert in the unconventional space of the Old Melbourne Goal. The event will feature some of Melbourne’s most revered acts; Primitive Calculators, Essendon Airport and Fabulous Diamonds.

Sydney favorites Canyons will headline the Two Bright Lakes’s Labels Live @ concert at Melbourne Central Rooftop with Guerre, Bamboo Music DJs added to this impressive line-up.

Also part of MMW this year will be DJ Kidz, a series of workshops where young Melburnians will get a chance to experiment with state-of-the-art music and video technology. Located at ArtPlay, the area will also be transformed into an authentic clubbing space for a special dance party with Daedelus (US), Spoonbill and VJ John Power.
