Avicii - Inspired

Swedish producer and DJ Avicii burst onto the music scene at the tender age of 18. In 2010, his single Seek Bromance was a house hit and he played at Club Space in Miami for the Winter Music Conference before he was even old enough to legally drink there. This year, the Scandinavian wunderkind won for Best Break-Through Artist at the International Dance Music Awards. Avicii only now just 21 years of age is at the head of the pack in the next generation of artists. He takes a moment to talk to Pulse about who is inspiring him currently. Pulse: What posters did you have in your bedroom as a kid? Avicii: Haha I've only had one poster ever and that is of Muhammad Ali after knocking out Sonny Liston.

What are your secret records to get the party going when nobody is dancing? Well I try to never get myself in that position where no one is dancing but I would say probably The Island by Pendulum is up there.

Best and worst places you've ever played? Best place I would say is either London or Toronto in Canada. Everyone there is so appreciative of the music and you can tell its growing extremely rapidly. Worst is probably a gig I did in norway, I've had amazing times there aswell at other times.

If you could travel back in time and attend any party, what would it be? Hmmm probably the worlds first party? Not sure when that was exactly but I imagine it was a treat!

What would you be doing if you weren't making music? Thats really hard. I think I would still be trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and work as a telemarketer or something to pay my bills.

Who inspires you in today's music scene? There's so many people who inspire me but I would say the Swedish House Mafia guys are my biggest current inspiration in the dance scene.

Who are you looking forward to seeing at Stereosonic and why? Again there's so many of them I'm looking forward to seeing, and I'm also friends with half of them. I'm more really looking forward to chill and party with everyone.
