Cavo Paradiso is the stunning Greek venue that has been putting together mix CDs for eleven years now. Named by DJ Mag as one of the world’s top ten clubs, Cavo Paradiso’s line up’s read like a who’s who of house and techno. Richie Hawtin, Sasha and Frankie Knuckles are just a few of the big names that have taken over the hilltop club and their compilations attract names that are just as impressive. Last year’s offering by Matthias Tanzmann and Satoshi Tomiie was very well received and now it’s Davide Squillace's turn.

The Hideout Recordings boss has delivered a seamless seventy-minute mix for Cavo Paradiso’s latest compilation, Reconstructions. Mixed using the Traktor Kontrol S4 platform, Squillace opens with Bruno Ponsato’s mellow track, Anybody But You. It’s a slow start with hypnotic whirrs and a building bassline that quickly gets shoulders moving. By the time Reboot’s En Place comes in, it’s techno of the highest order and Squillace’s going full throttle. With a mischievous vocal that evokes images of the laughing Circoloco clown, we’re reminded that this is the sound that Squillace’s famous for playing on the DC-10 terrace and at clubs around the world.

Vocals are introduced in a big way with the Visionquest remix of Seuil & dOP’s Prostitute, and then Dead Seal’s stripped down mix of KooKoo Mind. Although the vocals of Prostitute jar with the rolling bassline, while the lyrics of Kookoo Mind, sound sadly lacking in what is otherwise a great techno track. However Squillace recovers with the bouncing Caporale by fellow Italian, Santos. Finishing off a near flawless compilation is Guti’s housier Wanna Be and Martin Buttrich’s remix of Squillace and Bacchetti’s Around The Bay.

Reconstructions packs quite a punch and brilliantly showcases why Davide is such a sought after DJ and producer. He’s featured flourishing artists from the house and techno scene in a mix that is sure to stand the test of time.
