Wiley to release new album ‘100% Publishing’

East London’s infamous pioneering grime artist Wiley has announced the release of his latest album 100% Publishing, out this 1st of July on Big Dada.

Well known as the godfather of grime Wiley has been an influence to major acts including Dizzee Rascal and is the man behind the massive worldwide chart hit in 2008, Wearing My Rolex. After founding his own record label in 2004, Wiley has made a switchback move in his return to London-based Independent label Big Dada to release one of his most refined records to date.

100% Publishing
was one hundred per cent written, produced, vocalled and recorded by Richard Cowie, the shadowy figure behind the Wiley persona. Diverging from his usual collaborative musical approach, Wiley has this time not worked with guests on the record in a clear attempt to reinforce his sole production in the title’s meaning.

Wiley continues to stand up and ladle the cheese and grime in tunes like I Just Woke Up,  the R&B strut of Pink Lady, the sweet soulfulness of Up There and the introspective solemnity of Wise Man And His Words. Throughout, he spits lines which are often funny, sometimes shocking or cheesy, but always regularly surprising.

If that isn't enough grime news for you, Elijah, one half of the rising grime label Butterz, has uploaded 50 grime sets he loves to the Butterz tumblr. In Elijah’s words, “this is the best way of consuming Grime music after raves. Not mixtapes, not albums, not youtube channels, a good old set. DJ mixing it up, loads of MCs passing the mic quickly.” Make sure you check out Wiley’s set with Boy Better Know’s DJ Maximum from late 2006 on Rinse FM and wait for the surpise ending!
