Matthias Tanzmann and partner Davide Squillace take the controls as Moon Harbour drops a brand new mix CD that presents some of the sounds punters can expect at the DC10 parties this summer in Ibiza. Circoloco: The Next level is a deep/tech-house extravaganza, spun back-to-back by the aforementioned DJs.

The mix wastes no time to shift into the higher gears as pair clearly envisage a set that would closely resemble what one may expect live at DC10. Squillace gets the ball rolling with Carola Pisaturo’s mix of Around The Bay, his own collaboration with Barcelona-based Luca Bacchetti.

This squelching tech-house groove is an instant floor-filler, and the intent of the mix is made clear from the beginning. This slides into the infectious Never Give It Up, a team effort by Polish house-heads Marcin Czubala and Catz n Dogz.

Tanzmann and Squillace to and fro between slightly more house and techno flavours respectively, and the latter instantly re-affirms his techno tendencies with his own version of Audiofly’s peak-time monster Fela.

This back to back session loses no momentum: the duo keep the hi-hats pumping and the basslines rolling in true tech-house fashion featuring co-productions from both Tanzmann and Squillace, and appearances from other big names such as Italoboyz, Matthew Dear and a notable, more brooding close from Martinez, Memorial (Luna City Express Mix).

Another highlight is the swinging Fibula from Nil By Mouth, containing an addictive sample that sounds suspiciously like its origin may have been Jamie Woon’s lyrical masterpiece, Wayfaring Stranger. The mix presents a bit of a “who’s who” of the techno/house scene, and definitely gives reason to believe that the Circoloco bashes will be ones to remember this summer in the Balearic Isles.

This compilation follows on from the Moon Harbour-released Circoloco @ DC10 – Ten years Anniversary from 2008 and the message is loud and clear: the Circoloco brand is still gathering pace and 2011 will see, as the album title suggests, the parties and the music taken to “The Next Level”.
