Mark E - Escape

The first release from UK based Vibrations sees Mark E heading straight for the dancefloor with 'Escape' and 'Midnight Fires'. On the B side, label bosses Roots Unit give 'Escape' the Balearic remix treatment.

VIBRATIONS

The first release from UK based Roots Unit’s new imprint Vibrations sees Mark E in prime dancefloor mode.

Escape first surfaced on E’s Beats In Space mix last Autumn and has been creeping into many of his DJ sets since. The spaciousness of its 115 bpm groove allows punishing drums to work over the floor amidst a bouncing mainline, until the track begins to fold in onto itself around the half way point. By now, with a bloody minded bassline and strung out synths, the track is migraine inducing and a far call from the sugary disco edits of the summer.

Midnight Fires continues the fun, less urgent and upfront it drops fizzing drums and a jaunty melody, which lifts the heads down lope of the A side. E’s trademark probing bassline surfaces around the midway point, rolling out the low end so low you have to hop as it skittles between your Nikes.

Label bosses Roots Unit take some dubby pianos to Escape, bringing the track blinking out of its tunnel vision. The retro, balearic shades and far away congas are in marked contrast to the rest of the package but taking a static stance diffuses the energy nicely and rounds off a strong package.
