Mr G – one of dance music’s most innovative and unique characters.
A true UK production legend, Mr G is Colin McBean. Beginning as part of the KCC DJ trio, playing the now legendary Confusion parties, Mr G then became one half of the Advent (with Cisco), producing ground-breaking releases, remixes and albums and touring the world with their intense, relentless style of techno. He went alone in 1999 and founded his own label, Phoenix G, creating a unique brand of analogue bass-heavy electronic tech-funk, which immediately attracted props from his peers and the music press alike.
He also went on to release on labels including Defected, Duty Free, The End and Skint/ Loaded, also remixing artists including Miss Kittin, Josh Wink, Xpress 2 and many more.
In 2006, Mr G hooked up with Rekids and released the fourth ever EP for the label – ‘E.C.G'ed’, he followed with ‘U Askin?’ in 2007 and ‘Makes No Sense’ in 2008, then spending much of 2009 working on his debut solo album for the label ‘Still Here (Get On Down)’ which is released now.
