Over the past few years Jay Shepheard has built a reputation as one of the key figures in the new wave of electronic music. Since his debut release he has gone on to work with some of the most influential labels arround including Compost Black Label, Buzzin Fly, Diynamic, Dirt Crew, Freerange, Rebirth and many more.
With a background in music including playing in high school bands to working in music PR and several years working at UK online music store Juno, Jay Shepheard first arrived on the scene in 2007 with the release of his "Black Label #19" EP on Compost. Since then his releases have consistently achieved critical acclaim from DJs, music lovers and the press alike and earned Jay nominations for Best Deep House act of 2007 and Best Nu Disco act of 2009 in the Beatport Music Awards.
In 2010 Jay has launched his own label imprint Retrofit. With an ear for the past and and eye on the future the label marries classic electronic musical themes of acid house, disco, vintage techno and anything in between with current dance floor sound and concepts. The first 2 releases have both found themselves in the best seller lists of the major stores and into the charts of A list DJs.
Outside of the studio Jay has also built a reputation in the booth, playing both DJ and live sets all over Europe in some of the leading venues including Fabric in London, Goa in Madrid, Watergate in Berlin and Monza in Frankfurt to name just a few. Outside of Europe Jay has also played several gigs in Russia and China and has also completed his first tour of Australia taking in 5 shows over 2 weekends in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane....
