Born in the UK to an English father & Dutch mother in the 70's. He moved and grew up in a small town near Amsterdam in the eighties. He spent the last half of the eighties and early nineties on a skateboard with a spraycan in his hand, listening to The Police, Level 42, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, James, Stone Roses, the Clash, Jimi Hendrix etc.
After he crashed his skateboard and getting busted on the train yards, music came more into play in 1991 and first house parties were attended. While partying like a fool, his love for this music was growing so much, that he started to buy import 12”s and a pair of turntables in 1992. A year later Christiaan started playing around various little parties in the neighbourhood. In 1995 he moved to Rotterdam to set up one of the first internet based record-shops. In 1996 he moved out of Rotterdam after hating the city and moving to Amsterdam to start School of Audio Engineering (SAE) and to work in local record shops.
School wasn’t really his thing, so in 1997 he started the Rush Hour record shop with his partner Antal. While doing this, a tie with the local club scene was created. Rush Hour started a new house night in Paradiso at the end of 1998, called Paradisco2000 (renamed to Paradisco 3000 after the millennium). This monthly night became known for bringing the original house sound at a time when this was much overlooked in Holland. It ran steady for seven years, bringing both local talent and international guests. Since then, Christiaan has played in different clubs in and outside of Holland, like Austrialia, UK, USA,
France, Italy, Japan and Germany.
In 1999 the Rush Hour record label and distribution was started. The label has brought many releases by both local producers and international artists. In 2001, he oversaw the production of Meikbar's "Feelings" for the Rush Hour label, which became an underground hit worldwide. Over the years he worked closely with local artists like Aardvarck, Kid Sublime and Tom Trago to get their projects into play. Christiaan was also involved with the start up of Kindred Spirits.
The last few years saw the 10 year anniversary of Rush Hour, the birth of a new slew of underground parties (Rushwell). There compilations released like a Rush Hour Records label compilation for the Japanese market, while the other was a Paradisco3000 compilation for the Benelux market. Christiaan continues to run the Rush Hour label, overseeing the a&r and promotion. Currently preparing new albums by Aardvarck, Carl Craig, Rick Wilhite, Romanthony, Recloose, Tom Trago, Virgo Four etc. He is also working on a DJ International and a Trax compilation album.
