Ladies and gents, it’s the dreaded moment we’ve all been waiting for…voting for the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll 2012 opened today and runs through the 29th of August. Regardless of the fact that this list is mostly garbage year after year, perhaps the time is nigh to actually vote for those DJs that play the music that we love, and kick out people like David Guetta from cracking the top-ten, let alone the number one spot. Last years list was straight up blasphemy with regard to the art of DJing – Armin is most definitely better than Guetta, but if the jaded EDM obsessed fans are the ones taking the time to vote then this years list may be worse – FAIL.
Therefore, as much as it may seem like a giant waste of time, I urge you to vote in order to represent those DJs who are actually worthy of this list. The DJ Mag Top 100 list is the most distributed DJ list in the world, and the underground deserves representation amongst the Skrillex’s and Tiesto’s of the world. For instance, Resident Advisor’s top tiered DJs of their top 100 list last year, which included Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler and Richie Hawtin, did not even crack the top 20 on DJ Mag’s list last year, let alone make the list at all – truly incomprehensible if you ask me.
In order to gain some momentum in this quest for truth on DJ Mag's list, I am personally striking a motion to push Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin into the top 20. Additionally, initiating the appearance and ranking of Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Luciano, Maceo Plex, and Loco Dice ANYWHERE on this list is vital. Do your part, make your mark, and vote! If you care about the music, you can make the difference.
