Henry Johnstone, Sydney - Australia - on 19/6/12
Last week we were fed a little teaser that the long-awaited return of Aussie synth-poppers The Presets was on the not too distant horizon. Now, following the news today that they will be headlining this year's Parklife, the band have officially announced their third album, Pacifica, is to be released this September 14th on Modular Recordings.
It's been four long years since the release of the duo's world dominating release Apocalypso, and the new album is described by the official press release as 'ten prismatic, synth-laced songs that sees the band boldly venture into new, uncharted musical territories'.
For a bit more of a distinct description, Sydney DJ Gus Da Hoodrat - who has remixed a forthcoming single from the album - has said The Presets' new sound is "really, awesomely techno".
"I love it, it's right up my alley, Hoodrat added. "But I'm always shocked when I hear stuff that challenges the pack and isn't really aimed towards radio. When I listen to it I feel like it's a lot darker, a lot harder and slightly more challenging."
Pacifica will come in three formats; CD, vinyl and MP3 Download. To pre-order or get the jump on the first taste into The Presets new album be sure to visit the official website.
