Swedish House Mafia Split Up

Following the news last week that the Aussie drum and bass outfit Pendulum are calling it quits, the trio of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso have revealed through their website that they will disband following the conclusion of their forthcoming tour.

The statement reads:

"Today we want to share with you, that the tour we are about to go on will be our last. We want to thank every single one of you that came with us on this journey...we came, we raved, we loved.”

No doubt DJ Sneak, who has aimed a fair amount of criticism at the trio of late, wouldn't be shedding any tears right now. In fact, the Chicago house star had this to say about them in an interview with Meoko only last Thursday.

"The difference between me and THEM (Swedish blank Mafia) is very simple, while I’m Organic, they are Synthetic, while I do this for love and homage to the music and DJing craft they constantly figure out ways to make it the most commercial noise they can make, their main focus for creating is to make some HIT, it is not about creating something original and soulful, it’s about following the calculated steps to come up with a hit for the purpose of their own success. They measure success by spending ridiculous amounts of money paying their way to the top."

The Swedish House Mafia will play the first of their final shows from July-November at Milton Keynes Bowl in the UK, Ushuaia in Ibiza and then the Friends Arena in Sweden, with the final leg of their farewell tour being announced in August.
