Ryan Gosling has enjoyed a meteoric ascent to the top of pop culture sex appeal due almost entirely to his roles on the silver screen. As a straight man I can’t tell you where it really began, I just know that I first started hearing girls mention him when he was in the Notebook. The moment when I knew I was really out of my league though, came last summer when I saw Crazy Stupid Love (good flick) with a date. After that, it was clear he could do no wrong in the eyes of the ladies, and after he crushed it in Drive, he could do no wrong with me either.
But despite the respect I’ve silently given him from afar as a champion among men, the Gos isn’t one to rest on his laurels. So, with my sense of self esteem squarely in the crosshairs, he’s released footage from a Mormon talent show in 1991 when he didn’t have the ripped abs and chiseled arms. Sadly, he demonstrates decisively that all he needs is a stage, some hammer pants and some good old C+C Music Factory to truly rock the party. Whatever man, you’re better than me alright?!
