SAVED records, the brainchild of brothers Nic and Mark Fanciulli, has a catalog featuring some of today's most well known house artists, including Loco Dice, &ME, and Subb-An. Their latest release is the We Are EP from Guti, Livio and Roby. Guti, the Argentinian responsible for smash records on Supplement Facts and Crosstown Rebels, and Romanian duo Livio and Roby (Cecile, Desolat) team up to deliver records that cross genres, while providing plenty of musicality, atmosphere and depth.

On the A side is "We Are," a driving jam that borrows in no small way from Guti's jazz roots. With a powerful and steady 4x4 kick, the track weaves its way through textures and intermittent stabs. This is a tune geared towards listening and movement, not anthemic prowess. It moves with certainty, building up and down slowly with a live percussive influence providing range and interest. Sonically, each element, from the ethereal pads to the basic piano lead, fit well together and make for an interesting composition.

First up on the flipside is "Up There." The tech house touch of Livio and Roby comes through more clearly on this one, with well syncopated hats and a great shuffle moving the track forward. In keeping with the theme of the EP, the percussion retains a live feeling, and all textures and pads are soft and subtle, rather than harsh and overly obvious. "Up There" blends fantastic dance sensibility with an emotional underpinning that makes for a great listen or dancefloor excursion.

Finally, "Piesa 3" leaves house music aside to deliver a slice of contemplative downtempo. A meandering piece, Piesa 3 evokes slower life somewhere in a European town. A man's unfiltered voice cuts in and out, while the percussive style provides shuffle. In spite of the genre switch-up, "Piesa 3" forms an integral part of this cohesive EP, which speaks volumes about the talents of Guti, Livio and Roby. The artists and SAVED deliver a smart, well designed record with "We Are," and shows they are not afraid to create living, breathing music.
