Nina Kraviz Speaks Out On Sexism In Dance Music

In a recent interview with Mixmag, Russian house producer and DJ Nina Kraviz has spoken out about the sexism she has encountered during her career.

"There’s an attitude still in the Eastern Bloc that women are good for the bedroom and the kitchen but not much else – so when a women gets successful there’s a bit of a debate," Kraviz said.

She then goes on to say: “I’ve had really mean comments from all over Europe, people asking who I slept with to get where I am, or saying that a man must be doing all the work for me!"

With her self-titled debut album currently blowing up and being extremely well received from critics, Kraviz is rising to prominence as one of the hottest talents in the house scene. It would seem that certain European blokes need to check themselves, as anyone who's heard the album or witnessed Kraviz on the decks would attest to the fact that her success is nothing but hard work and raw talent.
