Dyed Soundorom - Australian debut

Dyed Soundorom had an unusual entry into dance music. The owner of infamous Paris nightspot Les Bain Douches spotted something in the hyper, perma-smiling party kid and approached him with a request: “he wanted me to put on a party with an underground sound,” says Dyed with a grin. So he did and that's what he has been doing ever since – as a promoter, DJ and especially as a gifted producer. Dyed joined the Circo Loco team two years ago and hasn't looked back. Soon to be heading to Australia on tour with Sydney's Circo Loco among the events, which he will headline alongside Matthias Tanzmann.

PULSE: I've heard you have had a huge European summer in Ibiza, what was it like at Circo Loco?
DYED SOUNDOROM: Well, it was my second season of residency for Circo Loco and it was fantastic, it's my favourite place to play in the world. People come from everywhere in the world, but it feels like everybody knows each other. While you play they give you a lot of energy.

How has Circo Loco influenced your music? I've been going to Circo Loco for ten years now, but I only started to play there two years ago. They have always played and supported underground music there, this is the huge difference compared to the other clubs.

So you're coming to Australia and playing with Matthias Tanzmann, how did you guys meet? We met at Circo Loco, but we never had the chance to play in another place together. Actually no, I'm wrong, we played together in Rome about a month ago. We played back to back.

What was it like? It worked really well! It was the first time and we really enjoyed it. Matthias played more tech house and I played a bit more deep. We found the perfect balance.

What can us Aussies expect from your set and your set with Matthias? Well, I'm sure you will dance [laughs]. Something between house and techno, but groovy for sure, with a lot of new stuff you've never heard before. This is the second time we will be playing together. I'm really excited to go to Australia.

What have you heard from the music scene here?
I've heard only good things about it, I mean there is a lot parties there with a lot of underground DJs. So I can imagine the crowd is really good. A lot of my DJ friends have played there and they came back with big smiles, they were like "you will love it ".

What are your plans while you are here? Having fun of course, and visit as much as possible. I'm going to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Wollongong. Also, I have some friends there so they will show me all the fun places to be.

What are you listening to at the moment? What is inspiring your set? There is so many artists these days it's crazy. Djebali is a new comer that's releasing some exciting things. A DJ who has been inspiring me a lot is Zip aka Thomas Franzmann, he always did.

What are your plans after you visit Australia? Going back to the studio. I'm starting a new label called 'Appolonia' with Dan Ghenacia and Shonky. So I'm really focussed on that. February will be the first release, the idea is to have a new platform to release our music. We have all known each other for a long time now, we have the same taste in music and the same music vision.
